Here’s a step by step on how to make simple gingerbread men cookies. I had so much fun making these little guys. It made the whole house smell like Christmas. Not only did the cookies looked great, they tasted good too! If I can make gingerbread men cookies, anyone can. Music by Kevin MacLeod

For all the people asking about how much butter they should add, if you look carefully you’ll see that each butter stick in the video weights 113 grames, so you should add 225 grames or 8 OZ. if you’re using english units

I have two questions: can I use honey instead of molasses? Because molasses isn’t common at all in our country.
The second one: how much does a stick of butter weigh in your country? Over here it’s 200 grams. I’m just trying to figure out how much to use.

@DoublM7 it must be fahrenheit because in my country we use celsius and the usual top temperature is 250ºC for cooking. it’s impossible that 350 is in C

@desertnut And does this flour mixture include the vanilla extract? Because you didn’t mention this at all

@ramonaomidvar Molasses are very important in making gingerbread men for the texture and general taste. If you want that traditional gingerbread taste and feel to your cookies, then you’ve got to use molasses.
Unfortunately, they’re tough little rotters to get hold of, so you can substitute it using the same quantity of light treacle/golden syrup

hi can i ask u couple of questions?

    1) what is molasses and what is its pupose in general and for the gingerbread dough?

    2) if i dont have this molasses can i substitute it for somthing else or is it important? or can i just leave it out and if i do how will it taste different/

    thanks!

    Allison-
I assume this is an american recipe, therefore it would be 1 cup of butter. if you are weighing the butter it would be a 1/2 pound.
    I hope this helps!

    @healthyvegan

I just took a look and clicked on AUDIO
and maybe you should dub your videos at the beginning and “stirring” sections with that song “CALL ME”.

and at the end give them a music credit… I just HATE IT when great music goes to waste

    (IF ANYONE IS READING):

@monodentate Thanks for watching – the 1/4 cup of oil in the recipe is much lower than most other cookie recipes, and actually I usually only use a couple of tablespoons and they turn out just as nicely. Some saturated fat in your diet is necessary for certain functions in your body so don’t be afraid of it as long as you don’t overdo it. The type of saturated fat in coconut oil is different than the type of saturated fat in animal products. Hope you enjoy the cookies!! :)

@iDiggMGL haha… perfect! So glad I could help, and with good timing. I hope your family enjoys them as much as mine does – Phil’s dad is addicted I think ;)

@MrsBrettBretterson You can use olive oil if you like – the molasses & spices will totally mask the flavor of olive oil

@sewmommysew Thanks, I just finished eating one, so good… Now, for whole spelt berries you will need a proper grain mill. I have tried grinding whole grains in a coffee grinder (burnt out the motor) and a blender (didn’t get down to flour consistency)… just doesn’t work. A flour mill will work, but if you don’t have one they’re kind of pricey. If anyone else has tips, please post – otherwise I think you’ll have to get some flour instead… But any whole grain flour will work wonderfully :)
